On some issues of personal names’ studies

Abstract

We have inserted quantitative indices into the research of XX century’s Mongolian personal names and revealed several peculiarities which were not paid attention before. These include of fund capacity of Mongolian personal names, it’s tendency to satisfy (when number of population is increased, in contrary, number of name in the name fund is not increased), inverse relationship between frequency and number of personal names (low-frequency names are much and high-frequency names are few), peculiarities that main part of personal names’ fund is consist of few-spread names and majority of Mongolian population are given with the wide-spread names which are measly shared in the fund of personal names. Therefore we have stated a hypothesis that above mentioned peculiarities and regularity are also may exist in the other nationalities’ personal names and it needs comparative research. In order to make a comparison on the research for personal names of different countries which are different from each other on the number of its population, it requires determining relative frequency of personal names. So we put forward an idea that personal names are divided into 3 parts: wide-spread names, middle-spread names and few-spread names. Furthermore, in the basis on category of content and form, we tried to explain a possibility that personal names may influence destinies of their owners.
