Abstract

Reviewing a vast body of material on contemporary science and knowledge, Jean-Francois Lyotard has sketched the outline of the perspective of knowledge in postmodern condition. The nature of knowledge has been showed from a different point of view through narrative analysis. Drawing a parallel between science and nonscientific (narrative) knowledge in Lyotard's philosophical view helps us understand that the former's existence is no more-and no less-necessary that the latter's. He has predicted how criterion of performativity gets important and that it is significant to prefer paralogy to consensus in postmodern age.
