On Some Issues of Sounds, Syllables, and Stress in the Mongolian Language in China

Abstract

This article analyzes and discusses the results of an acoustic study on sounds, syllables, stress, and prosody in the Mongolian language in China, specifically focusing on the standard Mongolian pronunciation of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, based on the theory and methods of experimental phonetics. While acknowledging the achievements of previous scholars, the article presents new and improved results. It examines the short vowels in the initial and non-initial syllables of words, the timbre of diphthongs, the length of long and short vowels, the interaction of vowel sounds between syllables, the types of syllables in spoken language, the issue of word stress, and introduces new topics for future research.
