Onomatopoeia in Mongolian and English

Abstract

In any languages, there are onomatopoeic words, which are words phonetically imitate, resemble or suggest the source of the sound that describe. Although a particular sound is perceived or heard similarly by people of different culture, it is often expressed through use of different sound or consonant strings in various languages. Through this article, we tried to classify onomatopoeic words in Mongolian and English so as to find out what differences and similarities they have by comparing their structure and meaning.
