Obsereving the poems of the traditional Mongolian game of dominoes

Abstract

Poems of the traditional Mongolian game of dominoes are one of the branches of Mongolian oral folklore. The game of dominoes came from China at the end of 19^th century and developed all over Mongolia. First, it spread to towns and then to the countryside. Mongolians use its Chinese names and also gave it Mongolian names. Every name has its own poem. Those poems insert some people’s names, local territory names and various pieces of advice into the game. Also, the Mongolian version replicates the special and extraordinary thinking of the Mongolian people. To properly study domino poems, we need to collect and publish them.
