Within the theoretical framework of Systematic Functional Grammar, the cohesions are classified as ellipsis, substitution, reference, lexical cohesion, and conjunction. Accordingly, some meanings of Mongolian conjunctions, especially appositional conjunction, which is included in one of the subsections of the elaboration, have been explained.
In this article, the author explains the conjunction ooroor khelbel ‘in other words’. When this conjunction describes a lexeme with the meaning of a phenomenon by connecting it with another lexeme, the two lexemes give the same meaning, and the second lexeme contains the general denotation of the phenomenon, so it has a subordinating function to the first lexeme.
The appositional conjunction has different semantic functions depending on the text type.
