Horchin -Mongolian Venus and Etugen (The Secret History of the Mongols in the mirror of metaphors - 3)

Abstract

This paper is a continuation of the author’s research series called ‘The Secret History of the Mongols in the mirror of metaphors’. Field research team of the Seminar of Mongolian Studies at Charles University Prague has found the figure of Goddess Venus, which is 20-24 thousand years old, from Horchin Mongolia. Its name might be Etugen in old Mongolian. Based on this, we are trying to explain the historical and cultural words like эх, этугэн, нутаг (The Secret History of the Mongols) and their origins, metaphors and cultural meanings. Some complicated words and expressions like otokii yeke qan - §189, otokiis kebtegiil -§230, otbg uysan-u qoina - §154, erkin egede -§154, egenegee qoimar - §165 have been explained differently in this paper.
