Minimum wage, Employment, Men and women aged 15-64Abstract
This study examines how the minimum wage in Mongolia affects the employment of men
and women of working age, using probit model. It uses data from the Labor Force Survey (LFS) from
2008 to 2018. Empirical results show that the minimum wage has a negative and statistically significant
effect on employment for both men and women. For a 10 percent increase in the real minimum
wage, the probability of employment for working-age women decreases by 0.324 percent, while the
probability of employment for men decreases by 0.312 percent. The minimum wage significantly
reduces the likelihood of employment for working-age men and women.
