Abstract

What does “God is dead” mean by Friedrich Nietzsche? Nietzsche spoke allegorically in his writing “Thus spoke Zarathustra” one of the Jesus’s disciple, Judas who betrayed Jesus killed the God. He also said, “Mankind ought to leave their old values and Gods they believe” through his doctrine of superman. God is an assumption for Nietzsche. Every nation and people has their own gods, idols, and values. People always have needs to worship someone or something. Thus, they urge to have a religion even after their gods’ death. Nietzsche expresses that scientific research and methodology, critical thinking and technological development make mankind equal to God. Nietzsche’s understanding of god is dead has to be understood separate from the usage of stereotype level.
