The ratio of P-wave velocity to S-wave velocity, and Poisson’s ratio illustrate the elastic property of a medium. Using travel times of crustal P and S waves of local seismic events, the lateral variation of the Vp/Vs ratios in the upper crust of the Khuvsgul region is studied. Vp/Vs ratios in the region in question are estimated as 1.69-1.77 with an average of 1.71. A statistical bootstrapping method is used to test the stability of the result. The result of the Vp/Vs ratios correlates with the tectonics structure of the study region.
