Abstract

Every nation has its own national mentality. Studying the unique features of the national mentality will help to better understand the culture and life of the nation. Unique idioms are the most obvious example of a language unit that carries the unique culture of a nation because it exists only in the language of that nation. Throughout history, humans have always been close to animals, and animals have an inseparable influence on human existence and development.

Therefore, there are many animal names or expressions related to animals in people's language and idioms. In the case of Mongolia and China, because the lifestyles of their people are different, the expressions containing the names of livestock in the two languages have different meanings. Therefore, interesting conclusions have been reached by comparing the national mentality contained in the idioms containing the names of livestock in Mongolian and Chinese languages.
