In the present study, we aimed to assess the critical thinking skills of the learners using the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Test and to investigate whether these skills are needed to be improved and the method of planning and organizing the lesson is beneficial for developing the skills. In our study, a total number of 95 bachelor students from I-V levels, who chose to study the subject as a core and an elective class, participated. Our findings indicate that the students’ critical thinking skills are not sufficient and a further study on identifying the influencing factors, choosing, experimenting, and practicing effective strategies for enhancing the critical thinking levels needs to be conducted.
