Abstract

Jean-Jacques Rousseau (28 June 1712 – 2 July 1778) was not only French philosopher,

sociologist, aesthetician, pedagogue and composer of 18th-century Romanticism of French expression but also he was one of the greatest representative of the enlightenment period. His political philosophy influenced the French Revolution as well as the overall development of modern political, sociological and educational thought.

He believed that the language of the Arts and Sciences were must be obviously and understandable for the public. It is supposed that it‟s the “embryo” of the public culture which is in contrast to the elite culture. He explained this idea through his viewpoint that the main goal of the Arts and Sciences was to educate the public.

One of the similar features of the hereditary philosophers was to modernize the society, the culture and the traditions as well as at that time the modernizations were revealed by the outstanding intellectuals. According to this custom, Jean-Jacques Rousseau criticized the Arts and the Science as same way as the philosophers above, too.
