This paper presents a television system
formation process in Mongolia. Mongolia
witnessed the official airing of the
broadcasting debut relatively later or on
September 27, 1967. The only television
which was founded with help of the Soviet
Union was state-owned for the political and
social reasons and all its broadcasts were
available for airing only after undergoing strict
censorship. Such a situation of exceeding
state censorship was however removed
officially during the transition period of the
1990s. The emergence of commercial
televisions has opened a totaly new page in
the history of the Mongolian journalism where
this sector used to be represented by only
channel for over 20 years long. Unlike
broadcasting sectors of many other countries,
Mongolian commercial televisions have a
short history, nevertheless they have been
developing at a relatively brisk pace which is
directly connected with the development of
information technology.
