Abstract

Many sources tell familiar stories of
the birth of cinema, a remarkable
breakthrough in human civilization when
brothers Louis and Auguste Lumière showed
the first ticketed film in Paris on December
28, 1895. But this is not an immovable fact
recorded in the history of cinema. Not only
did the cinematography and the film
business began with films in boxes, not on
screens, but screen cinematography had
already reached the masses even before the
Lumière brothers. In this article, the author
argued Louis and Auguste Lumières’ are the
founders of cinematography.
