Abstract

This article discusses the capabilities, methods, and the significance of journalism to disseminate knowledge. In doing so, the author makes his own assessment and conclusions based on how researchers have traditionally approached this topic as well as based on modern trends. Moreover, the author links knowledge production in journalism with epistemology, and seeks to clarify its role and importance in journalism. The article divides journalistic knowledge into three categories – rational knowledge, knowledge based on journalist's personal experience, and subjective knowledge – and explains in detail the characteristics of each category of knowledge.
