"The rapid expansion and development of digital platforms and algorithmic systems are fundamentally transforming the processes through which public opinion is formed and disseminated in contemporary society. Embedded within social media platforms, search engines, and news recommendation algorithms, these systems have evolved into mechanisms that determine the visibility, ranking, and distribution of information, thereby exerting a dominant influence over the public information sphere.
This study is a meta-analysis of previous research examining the relationship between algorithmic systems and the formation of public opinion. It synthesizes and evaluates findings from studies systematically selected from major academic and research databases. The study integrates empirical research demonstrating how algorithmic distribution, personalization-based filtering, and engagement-driven ranking mechanisms influence users’ information environments and the processes through which collective public opinion is shaped."
