Abstract

A famous Mongolian scholar Agvandandar (1759-1840) wrote three kind of dictionaries. His Tibetan-Mongolian dictionary “Moon light” was popular among Mongols and Tibetans during long time and nowadays this work is studied by scholars in some levels. But the dictionary “A new dawn” (Skya rengs gsar ba ) was not included in list of his works and not studied until nowadays. In this paper we considered the specific feature of this dictionary compiled in Tibetan. The dictionary consists of 10 parts and in each part Agvandandar considered prphographical features of Tibetan grammar and as a poet at the beginning and the end of his explanations he wrote verses using the Poetry theory of Dandin’s Kavyadarsha.
