Abstract
This article seeks to examine the geopolitical factors of the Eurasian
region in relation to energy resources and transportation. It’s been 20 years since
the three words Eurasia, energy and Russia have become so interrelated. Russia
is regaining its lost position as a great power since the 1990s, when oil and gas
prices were high on world markets, and during its rule, it managed to sustainably
develop its economy and radically modernize its military strategy and armaments.
Rising energy prices in the 2000s revived Russia’s neighbors and the world. The
resumption of economic sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries in the
wake of the 2014 Ukraine crisis and the establishment of the Eurasian Economic
Union in 2015 have been used as an energy strategy.
