Elderly-friendliness of the environment and service conditions in the districts of ulaanbaatar city center

Abstract

Environmental factors account for 15-20 percent of the that affecting human health. Thus, for making the social environment friendly to the elderly, it is necessary to develop intersectoral cooperation and create an environment that values the contribution of the elderly and provides them with the opportunity to participate in all aspects of social life. Goal: Evaluate the services and atmosphere in 6 areas of the heart of Ulaanbaatar that are friendly to the elderly. Materials and method: For this study, 5 elderly persons were randomly chosen from each of the 3 subdistricts that were randomly chosen from each of the 6 districts from the central area of Ulaanbaatar city. 50 questionnaires with groups were used to assess the family hospitals, communities, banks, stores, and supermarkets that they frequently visit, as well as their interior and external environments and services. Result: 51.9% of respondents claimed that green facilities outside community centers and family hospitals are typical, while 55.3% said that green facilities outside banks and shopping malls are inadequate. The condition of the environment and services provided by the institutions were rated as inadequate by 93.5% of survey respondents and adequate by 6.5%.
