Abstract
Abstract: The purpose of this paper aimed to introduce some sociological concepts coined by most prominent French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu since such terms as habitus, capital, symbolic violence, and field are rarely translated in the Mongolian language. Bourdieu’s works have a significant impact on the academic field in France and consider classics in disciplines across the social sciences and humanities.
In this paper, we summarized Bourdieu’s viewpoint on contemporary society, particularly on the social reproduction process, which work has focused research on the relation between education, family, and social class (Bourdieu and Passeron, 1977). From a sociological perspective, educational institution (schools, colleges or universities) plays a crucial role to reproduce social inequality and social exclusion. Cultural capital assumes one of the key aspects in the above process of social reproduction otherwise inequalities in cultural capital reflect inequalities in social class.
