Abstract

The articles addresses the problem of ideal language in the philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein. In that philosophy ideal language involved to the theory of propositions, then, on this view, a merely external combination of two theories: a theory of elementary propositions (they have meaning by being logical pictures of elementary states of affairs), and the theory of truth-functions as an account of non-elementary propositions; this latter theory breaks down rather easily, because it is impossible to regard generalized propositions that relate to an infinitely numerous universe as truth-functions of elementary propositions. According to Wittgenstein, propositions are true insofar as they provide actual facts in the case; and our propositions are meaningful insofar as they provide a picture of possible facts in the case. Thus the proposition of metaphysics are neither true nor false, but without any meaning at all. As seen by the author, the underlying conditions for this theory has been several defection from the some ruling party.
