Abstract. The article highlights and explores two main approaches to the study of modern society: the concept of post-industrial society and the concept of the information society. It is established that in the concepts of the information society, the main attention is paid to understanding information and knowledge as the main strategic resource of society. In the work, the concepts of the information society are considered as theories of social knowledge.
