(Overview of Mongolian translations from Japanese)

Abstract

Over the past five decades, Mongolia has developed a growing number of professionals proficient in the Japanese language. As bilateral relations between Mongolia and Japan have expanded across political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres, the volume of translated Japanese literature and texts from various specialized domains into Mongolian has increased substantially. This study aims to systematically document, classify, and examine the corpus of Japanese-to-Mongolian translations across historical periods and thematic domains. Drawing upon foundational theories in translation studies, the research not only offers a quantitative overview but also seeks to elucidate key trends and shifts in the evolving landscape of literary and non-literary translation between the two languages.
