ТЕХНИК ТЕХНОЛОГИЙН ДИСКУРС ДЭХ МЕТАФОРЫН СУДАЛГАА

Abstract

       The purpose of this research is to study how metaphors in technical discourse appear in English and how they are translated into Mongolian in the context of cognitive semantics. Metaphor and discourse are closely related to each other and they cannot be considered in separable. Scholars have studied metaphors in many different contexts. In this work, we observed how English metaphors appear in the field of technics and technology as well as their translation in Mongolian. In addition, the study has also shown that metaphors can be translated by substituting with their equivalences or substituting for other metaphors. As defined by the scientist Douglas Battler (1986), the metaphor of the technical field is 1) naming parts and parts and space; 2) highlight actions and timing; In this paper, we unanimously support the definition that it is used to describe properties rather than time and space, and 4) to emphasize both time and space in modeling.
